I cut this pattern out a few months ago but never got around to actually making it up. Today I had time on my hands so I cut him out and sewed him togther.
All the fabric section are sewn on using a blanket stitch on my machine.

In April 2011 I attempted to make a very simple dress for my daughter, it literally was two pieces of fabric sewn together with a channel along the top to add ribbon or fabric to form straps it was ok and she did wear it a couple of times but I have to admit I much prefer making bags and home decor items.
Well recently she asked if I would make her another dress so off we went to buy a new pattern and some fabric, in theory it looked a simple pattern but the reality was very different, at least for me. I couldn’t understand how to put the three strips of elastic in the back despite reading the pattern several times so I had to do my own thing and improvise. It has turned out ok but I think I may try it again and make the back the same as the front with pleats I think it will make the dress sit better at the back.
Here it is

I have done freehand embroidery before on some of my quilt projects and I am no expert by any means but it is fun, if you haven’t tried it give it ago.
Recently Debbie Shore posted a video on youtube showing how she painted onto fabric and then did freehand embroidery over her designs. I got my daughter to draw some simple shapes onto some fabric and this is my attempt at freehand sewing over a painted design.
