Welcome To My Blog

Today I decided I would make some notebook covers my little girl likes JLS and a friend of ours likes One Direction, so here is the first one for 1D. I cut the fabric appliqué out with my Pazzles Inspiration but it would be easy to cut out by hand.

I dont know about you but I like to have a place for everything, I just like to be tidy so I thought I would show you just a few of my storage ideas, these are not rocket science or ingenious ideas just the way I store craft items using either things I have bought or made.

I use Ikea storage tubs which are mounted on a metal rail fixed to the wall for pens in our craft area, also Ikea coloured plant pots for felt tip pens and pencils. I use a fabric container that I made for my small collection of wool.

I use a plastic try in my draw to keep my sewing machine presser feet and tools handy for when I am sewing and I use wooden dolly pegs to hold my supply of ribbons and these are kept in Ikea glass jars.

Well today I hadn’t planned on making dolls cloths but somehow I started making a skirt for one of my daughters dolls when I had finished I started playing about with shirring elastic something I don’t seem to be able to sew with on my machine. I have been told that electronic machines don’t do shirring well it seems that is correct. I tried all sorts of settings and nothing really worked the nearest I got was when I put my tension all the way up to 9 but even then its not great. Anyway I thought why wastes my efforts so I turned my sample shirring into a top to match the dolls skirt. So here it is.

I have also been trying to find simple projects that my daughter can sew on her Janome sew mini sewing machine and I have started a “simple sewing ideas board” for kids on my Pinterest here simple sewing ideas board
