I have lots of these scattered around my house and thought I would share how I make them.
They are easy to make and dont require a lot of fabric. The video is Here Hope you like it.
Do you get the urge to have a good clear out of all that stuff we keep but never seem to use one from year to the next?
Well its the summer holidays and although we are not a house of hoarders we do have things that are never used, worn or played with so I decided while I have been on my own for a short while that I would set too and work my way through my house, without the two other people who live here saying, “No we need to keep that, in case we need it”.
I started upstairs and worked my way down, I decluttered our wardrobes, Ive collected old sheets, towels, bedding and clothes that have been packed away and never used in the three and a half years we have been in this house.
I cleared out the kitchen cupboards of things I’ve never used and never will. I had a table in a room that was looking a little shabby but perfectly useable so I gave it a fresh coat of paint and now it looks like new again.
I have rearranged my sewing area cleared out our craft/sewing room of things that have not been used and are not likely to be used in any time in the near future. I have put craft tools that we do not use on ebay and given everything else away.
I found sewing projects I’ve made and forgotten about so listed those on ebay too.
Ive rearranged my home office and painted my bathroom (well just the ceiling and door frames as everywhere else is tiled).
Ive been to the recycling centre twice and cleaned out the inside of my car.
So all in all Ive freecycled, recycled and upcycled this week and I tell you it sure feels good and for anyone who has been the recipient of my freecycle items this week I hope you enjoy what you have received from me.
Now if my two come home and dare to mess it up they will be in real trouble!
We have been on holiday this week and the plan was for decorating my daughters bedroom. I have been planning it in my mind since the summer and the time had come to get going.
We started on Monday morning emptying her room and filling and sanding which took most of the day.
Tuesday we started painting, the room was white with one lavender wall we were keeping all the white but making one wall pink.
I have tried and had mixed many pots of pink paint, some were too pale some too dark I eventually found one by dulux called. Fuchsia. Falls 3 which was a nice match for the Cath Kidston Rose duck fabric I had bought to make roman blinds.
Wednesday was spent just doing a bit of paint touching up and then I painted the skirting boards and door frames in B & Q white eggshell.
Once I had done that I made two roman blinds and hung them. just before bed we gave the carpet a freshen up with Vanish shake on carpet cleaner.
Thursday we went to ikea and bought a Stuva wardrobe I love this range it has so many combinations! I chose a slimline wardrobe with soft close doors, 3 built in draws and a basket pull out for the inside of the wardrobe.
We also picked up a few other bits and pieces, once we got home I spent all night building the wardrobe.
Friday I put the doors on the wardrobe and then I set about doing all the finishing touches. We brought her furniture back in to the room.
I put up a magnetic board above her desk and a little ‘Love’ plaque I hung a net above her bed which I draped with some felt butterfly battery lights she already had from Next.
I got a Lloyd Loom type box from free cycle over the weekend, which I painted in white eggshell and covered the top in Cath Kidston rose duck fabric.
I hung three paper honeycomb ball decorations I bought from eBay, put the little rabbit I made recently on the cubed ikea unit, recovered the dressing table stool in Cath Kidston rose duck.
I bought a piece of foam last week and made a cover for it from Clarke and Clarke fabric and placed it on the top of a small white unit she already had,I also added matching cuffs on the three baskets underneath.
I bought a hammock from eBay and hung this and she filled it with soft toys so they are a nice and neat now this hammock is about a metre wide and came with the hooks. I made some crochet bunting to hang off the front too.
I also bought a beautiful white flower lamp from B & Q which we have put on her desk, all in all it’s been a very busy tiring week but the room looks amazing.
