Welcome To My Blog

Just a quick post to say hope you have all had a lovely day. I thought I would share a few photos of some of the presents I got.

For me it was all about Cath Kidston, Liz Earle and Soap and Glory. I got the CK tea towels I had asked for (forgot to take photo) but they are on my Pinterest board also got this nice little teapot and cup for one. I got loads of Liz Earle which I love and I am fairly new to Soap and Glory but I got some items from their range too.

I bought my daughter loads and loads but one of the gifts was some GHD flat irons for her hair so I made her this holder to keep them in I couldn’t post it before Christmas in case she read my blog.

Ok my daughter wanted to give some lip balms as gifts for her friends so I made these in the hoop holders to put them in.

Now it may have been me but I didn’t find the instructions very clear at a particular part and it took me three attempts to work out how I should do them but once I had worked it out I made all 5 in a few minutes. The pattern was from Pickle Pie Designs and it was $5.99.

The pattern tells you to use wadding/batting but I found the holder to be to small for the Maybelline baby lip balms we were using, I tried my second one without and it was still a little to small in my opinion.

So I left out the wadding and increased the size to 115% on my sewing machine and I think they have turned out just fine.

I found this hot water bottle cosy on Pinterest a while ago and thought it may come in handy sometime.

Well the time is now, I made mine slightly different but it was a fairly quick and easy project.

I made 2 quilt sandwiches consisting of, main fabric, wadding and lining fabric which I cut at 18 x 10 inches. I quilted these rectangle pieces first using a decorative stitch on my Janome Memorycraft 9900.  Then I placed the backing template to one piece and cut it out and then placed the two front pieces of the template onto my second sandwich and cut those out.

Once done I sewed the bias binding to the two front pieces, put right sides together and sewed all round. I also overlocked all the way around to tidy up the inside edges.

Turned it right side out put my 1.5 litre hot water bottle inside and thats it.
