  • Embroidery Fonts on Janome Memory Craft 9900

I have not used all the fonts on the embroidery side of my machine so I thought I would stitch out a sampler. I have three fonts on the sewing side of the machine and three fonts plus two monograms pre installed on the embroidery side of the machine. I stitched out Small, Medium & Large using the three embroidery fonts and they are all a good size. My machine gives me the ability to adjust these pre installed fonts by up to plus or minus 20% so many possibilities. But fonts are available to use from your computer with software that can be bought or many of the embroidery sites on the net also sell fonts in all shapes and sizes so endless possibilities. The three fonts at the bottom of the sampler are the three fonts that are available on the sewing side of the machine. They are ok but I would probably only use these for labels or putting names in my daughters school uniform.

  • IPad mini case

So I posted yesterday that I have bought myself an iPad mini with retina display I also bought a full body protective case which is great but I felt the need to make something today so I’ve made a case for it. It’s big enough to hold the iPad with its case and I’ve added a pocket on the front to hold earphones. It’s made from hessian/ burlap and is lined with unbleached calico I had great success with the Christmas stockings I made using this fabric so I think I will put some on eBay and see if they sell.

  • Box Frame Wallart

I bought a box frame when I was in IKEA the other day and all this research I’ve been doing into buying a Brother scan n cut gave me itchy crafty fingers. So I hooked up my Pazzles to a windows laptop (yuk) and designed this heart frame.

  • Raspberry Crumble Cake & Ginger Biscuits

Ive bought a stand mixer this week and found this recipe on the internet so thought I would try it out. The mixer I bought is this I bought the silver option:- Here It was on offer and available on 4 flexi interest free payments so I went for it. It has a full metal body with copper wound 1000w motor and a large stainless steel bowl. it has 3 whisk attachments a splash guard and a spatula. It is a very simple no nonsense machine, feels very sturdy and very stable and quiet. It has a removable cover at the top on the front so I assume it must have attachments that can be bought to add on, but I don’t won’t anything like that I just wanted a good straight forward stand mixer and that appears to be what Ive got. I made ginger biscuits and crumble cake both very easy with this mixer. I forgot to take a photo of the biscuits but heres the crumble cake.

  • Embroidery In the hoop gone wrong!

Well tonight I decided I would try a small in the hoop project, I read all the instructions twice and still managed to get it wrong! I put my backing on the back of the hoop to soon and stitched it completely to the front, so instead of having a key ring holder that should slide over the top of the key I have just got a flat keyring. What makes it worse is that I duplicated the design so that I could do two at once. Oh well you learn by your mistakes they say. Well here they are anyway. Ok I decided to have another go this morning so heres what it looks like when you do it correctly. Thank you to Sealed with a stitch for the free design. You can find it Here

  • A quick shaped card

Here is a quick card made this morning with my scan n cut, all the elements were made using the pre installed shapes on the machine and the sentiment was written with the pen tool. Heres the video on how I put it all together on one mat and cut all the elements at once.
